2018: A Year to Be Thankful

2018 brings many things to be thankful for here at Houlka Attendance Center. Our school has changed in many ways that have made incredible positive impacts on the staff and students. In 2015 Houlka Attendance Center suffered a loss due to a fire in one of our buildings. After three years of hard work and perseverance our school prevailed and has a new building to show for it. The students, staff, and community all came together to support the school and its accomplishment. When asked, the teachers have stated that the new building very spacious, modern, aesthetically pleasing, and also safe. It may have taken a lot of work, and a lot of money, but it was definitely worth it for the safety and education of the students at Houlka.

This year also brings new members to the already wonderful staff here at Houlka. The newest members of the Houlka Family are Mrs. Angela Coggin, Mrs. Nikki Collums, Coach Gary Griffin, and Mr. Danny Kelly. This new teaching staff has brought different and exciting teaching skills and are welcomed by all. Mr. Kelly stated, “I really like it here. People care for each other a lot. I look forward to school every day and seeing everybody’s smiling faces.” We are all very excited to have these wonderful teachers as a part of our team. We know they will continue to give their best to all students who accept it. Like B.F. Skinner, an American Pathologist, once said, “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten.”

Both students and staff have worked hard to make this family strong and education of utmost importance. Each of us here at Houlka Attendance Center have so much to be thankful for. On behalf of the Wild Writers, we would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
