When you hear the names Jennifer Lawrence and Johnny Depp you probably instantly think of someone who is a strong, confident individual. We all dream of having the confidence these people have. Although we may all want this , sometimes we come across hard times and struggles in our life. It can be hard to always love ourselves. We could all use a little self-help from time to time, and I have some tips to help.

You should absolutely NEVER compare yourself to others!!!! Albert Einstein said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” If you compare yourself to other girls or guys and judge yourself based on what they can do, it will only cause you to feel worse about yourself. This especially happens if you are unable to do certain things as well as that person. Everyone is beautiful in their very own way. Focusing on the things that YOU are good at can be a big help in making you feel better about you and who you are!!

Another way to help with your self-confidence is by not focusing on the things that you are unable to change. Even though we may not want to show it we ALL go through hard times and things that, no matter what, we cannot change. Instead focus on the things that you are able to change to help build your confidence and help you to be a better person.

Celebrating things that you achieve or overcome whether it’s something big or something small is a beneficial way to build confidence and feel great about yourself. Doing something that is helpful to someone else will make you feel proud of yourself and afterwards you can have that fulfilling feeling of accomplishment.

Taking care of your body is a huge factor in self-confidence. If you are abusing your body, skimping on sleep, eating an unhealthy diet, and refraining from exercise your body probably isn’t in the greatest shape. Try to exercise more! Studies show that physical activity is a HUGE confidence booster.

Last but defiantly not least remember that it is okay to make mistakes every once in a while! Instead of thinking, “I’m so stupid. I ruined everything!” think “Everyone messes up sometimes,” or “It’s okay I’ll get it next time!”  Rather than beat yourself up or call yourself names, try speaking to yourself like you’d talk to a trusted friend. Cut yourself some slack, laugh at yourself, and remind yourself that no one is perfect. You are beautiful and unique in your very own way, and you should never doubt your worth!! 2 Corinthians 4:18 says “ While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” God loves you for who you are on the inside and not what is on the outside. God accepts you for you and he will never forsake you!!!
